Tropical Storm Issac.

Having gone through hurricane Andrew I know what they are like, and I know the rage they bring. We also went through Katrina which did not do alot of damage to South Florida, and we went through Wilma. Good ole Wilma decided we needed a new roof and took it off for us, so the roofers would not have to! I respect these storms they are nothing to take lightly! I do have to make some observations about the reporters who bravely go out and report on these storms.

As you flip from channel to channel you will get different takes on the storm. This was something that amazed me. On one channel we were told well it looks like it is headed that way and we are now out of the CONE!!
Key word here is CONE!!! On another channel they told us that while were out of this CONE!! We must remember that these storms do not travel in straight lines!!! I think we all know that! But they have to remind us. And that if the storm moves a little to the left or right then we would be back in the CONE!!!

Getting back to this CONE!!! It seemed to me that this CONE was the main focus of everything that was happening. Where ever you looked either we were in the CONE or out of the CONE! Some stations placed a lot of attention on the CONE than others! Why?

The for some reason the television channels always make the reports go out in the wind and rain for what? To show us how bad the wind and rain are? I can see that out of my windows! I can see the trees swaying back and forth! They normally don’t do that! Then when the reporter gets in front of the camera you can not see the reporter well at all because the lens of the camera is being bombarded with wind and rain! So the whole process is defeated. You then change channels you have a reporter showing surfers who want to catch a few waves! Then they tell you that it is not wise to do what the surfer is doing! But insist on showing us how the surfer goes out to catch a wave! That sounds like encouraging people who surf to come out and show them how that guy caught the wave so why can’t you?

The best was the report from a certain channel who was all over the place on the beach. He was talking to people having a good time. It almost seemed as if he had a few drinks before going on the air and just enjoying the whole thing! That was the best one!!! I really enjoyed his non emergency style and he was just going with the flow.

In any case Issac passed us by and we are glad for that. But we also are praying for the folks who are in its path. Take shelter and ride it out!

God Bless you all,
