I have always looked and tried different amps just to make sure that I was happy with the one that I have been using. I have had many amps that are considered to be top line amps, some tube and some solid state. Every guitar player is different so I know that we are always looking to improve where we can, and our sound. With that I have always been using a Fender Twin as my main amp. They are great amps. They are also very heavy. So I wanted something that I could just maybe carry but sound good as well.
After trying many amps I settled with an old Polytone Mini Brute II. This amp was in the guitar center webpage as a used amp that was traded in or something like that. I had tried a Polytone Brute before and thought this was a great amp, but finding one now in good condition may be hard to do. I looked on eBay, but the ones there either had some problems or were in bad shape. So to my surprise I looked on the guitar center website and there was one. I called and the guy at the store was really helpful and went and took a look at it and his words to me were….
This amp is in like new condition! Well I know sales people are sales people… so I told him box it up send it to me.
When this thing showed up at my home I was blown away by the condition this amp was in! Amazingly it seemed almost new like you took it out of the box! Well onto the best part of all.
When I plugged in my Hamer Newport Pro, the amp just shined! The sound was clean, and warm. I then plugged my Heriatge 550 into it and the sound was great! I have found an amp that will probably be my main amp for a long time.
The Polytone Mini Brute II is a keeper, and if you are into Jazz you will love this amp!
God Bless
