I got the email that I knew would come someday. It let me know that my good friend Fred Rust had passed away. He was and forever will be an example of how we should live, and treat others as we walk on our journey. I met him when I was just barely into the 20’s. Needing some guidance and wisdom. Fred was able to impart unto me through his love for the Lord those two things.
Through the years that I worked with him, I learned many lessons. But the greatest was to love one others as God would love me. For there is nothing greater than the love of God. He was a Christian and he was a different Christian. He was the Christian who not only talked it, but what showed more was that he walked a Christian life! It was on display for all to see. Every word that he would sow he would do it in love.
I know we will see him again. I know right now he has left behind a diseased body in this world. My bible tells me in Romans 6-8 “Now if we be dead in Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him”. So I know that he is alive with the Lord. And me knowing Fred he has many questions for Jesus.
I will miss all the great talks, and teachings he would give. I will his encouragement and his warm smile. I will miss the times we would sit at his piano and he would play old hymns and sing a long with him. I will miss him. I was fortunate to speak to him just hours before he left us and he was at peace, no pain, and mentally was understanding our conversation. I thank God I was given the chance to speak to him one last time. I pray that God will give peace and tranquility to his wife Arlene.
See you on the other side someday old friend………….
