Technology is good, is bad……

Everyday I take the time to watch, listen, and observe people around me. I can’t help but notice that technology has take over our lives in such a way that we no longer pay attention to what around us. Our cell phones, tablets, and laptops have become our main focus. No matter where you go you will see it. The worst one is people texting and driving! We need to stop doing this right away! If you need to text please pull over and out of the way of other cars. Please do not text and drive.

Now lets look at some of the observations I have made. Of course we will rule out coffee shops, I wont mention names as you all know who they are, but that this the place to open your laptop, tablet of cell and surf away. And here goes all the other places. I have seen people using their cell phones or tablet at these places: Gas station, bus stops, stopped at a red light, walking down the street not even paying attention as to what is ahead, at the library! Now when I visit the library it is to read something in printed matter! But I was there watching most of the people on their cell phone!

In every restaurant that I have visited in many occasions I have noticed people talking but looking at their phones every 3 or 4 minutes. At the park as I walk I see people just sitting using the cell to play a game or surf. And the folks at the park are almost oblivious as to what beautiful scenery. On the beach you will see it happen, at gathering for little league basketball I saw parents more in tune with their cell phones then watching their son or daughter playing. Even seen some couples on a dates are more entangled in their cell phones that in themselves it seems like!

Have we become so drawn up into the technology that we are no longer paying attention to what is around us and the people who we care the most about! Albert Einstein once said, “Technological progress is like an axe in the hands of a pathological criminal.” We must use our time wisely as our days are not long and we need to make everyday count. I hope that we learn to use technology wisely and remember that you can not ask a computer a question that you have not also told it the answer to! So on we proceed and I hope and pray that God will also brighten my path as well when I am caught up in the moment of a cell phone, tablet, or laptop!

God bless,
